Crochet Boy Baby Blanket Free Pattern

Crochet baby blanket boy

Great news! I have a nephew on the way and I wanted to make a crochet boy baby blanket for him. I love this blanket so very much and it is such an easy pattern. This is definitely a beginner friendly crochet blanket. It works up super quickly as we are using a cluster composed of a single crochet, half double crochet and a double crochet and skipping 2 stitches in between. This is mainly a one row repeat. So it is a nice cozy project that is a great candidate for movie night.

This is my second crochet boy baby blanket that I designed myself. I had so much fun designing this. Here is my first crochet baby boy blanket, but sadly I did not know how to write patterns back then. This blanket is already with it's new owner so I can't share the pattern with you. But I still love this design as well and thought I'd show you just for fun while we are on the subject. This blanket was made with 9 granny squares and a long granny stitch border. My client loves this blanket so much and it is very unique.

Both of these blankets were made with one of my favorite yarns. I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby is one of my go to yarns for cotton. When it comes to baby items I definitely like to stick to 100% natural fibers. I love how soft it is and there are a wide variety of colors to choose from so you will find a great color pallete for your project. For the first blanket, I used the colors Royalty, Black and White. This time I grabbed three shades of blue. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that I had grabbed all their denim shades and I must say, I love this color combo to pieces. The colors are Stonewash, Dark Denim and Pale Denim. As I am writing this, I Love This Cotton solid colors are $3.79 for 180 yards and every other week it is on sale for $2.65 per skein. It's not super expensive and is a great quality cotton for any projects that you would want to be soft. It is a great candidate for baby items.

Before we get to the pattern, I want to let you know about the size that I made. My blanket is just shy of approximately 30" x 40". I did block my blanket and stretch it a little bit to make it fully that size. You can use this pattern to make a larger sized blanket. You can make your foundation chain in any multiple of 3 + 2 to achieve another desired width and you can do any amount of rows to achieve your desired length. My border is approximately 1.5" or 3" if you count both sides. This should give you an idea of how to make another size if desired.
